What is Alpha?

Alpha is a 10-week practical introduction to the Christian faith which offers answers to some key questions in a non-threatening, relaxed environment.  During Alpha, there is a series of talks on the following topics:

  • Who Is Jesus?
  • Why Did Jesus Die?
  • How Can I Be Sure of My Faith?
  • Why and How Should I Read the Bible?
  • Why and How Do I Pray?
  • How Does God Guide Us?
  • Who Is the Holy Spirit?
  • What Does the Holy Spirit Do?
  • How Can I Be Filled With the Spirit?
  • How Can I Make the Most of the Rest of My Life?
  • How Can I Resist Evil?
  • Why and How Should We Tell Others?
  • Does God Heal Today?
  • What About the Church?

Alpha stands for:

A - Anyone interested in finding out more about the Christian faith. Adults of all ages are welcome.
L - Learning and laughter. It is possible to learn about the Christian faith and have fun at the same time.
P - People meeting together over a meal. An opportunity to get to know others and make new friends while enjoying great food.
H - Helping one another. The small groups give you a chance to discuss issues raised during the talks.
A - Ask anything. Alpha is a place where no question is seen as too simple or too hostile.
